  • The Kappelsberger family lives on Staatsstrasse 2072

  • Overtaking is forbidden in this section of the route, which not everyone obeys

  • Father is afraid that something will happen to his family if a car lands on the property

A rush, an impact and then: silence.

Sounds that the Kappelsberger family are all too familiar with.

Early in the morning, a car threw from the street across their property and crashed into a construction container.

“The third accident this year alone,” says Georg Kappelsberger (30).

"The last one was six weeks ago."

More people could have been injured in the accident

The family has their farm directly on the busy State Road 2072. Directly opposite is the turn-off to the Bierhäusl, along with a cycle path, and there is a bus stop in each direction.

"Fortunately, it is the autumn holidays," says Lisa Kappelsberger (27).

Usually around this time there are children waiting for the school bus.

“And the horticultural workers also came a little later than usual,” adds Uncle Martin Kappelsberger.

They put their tools in the container, and there is also the opportunity for the men to warm up a bit or sit down for a coffee.

"Unimaginable", all three agree, "what else could have happened."

As a rule, 100 km / h is allowed on the road section, a solid center line prohibits overtaking.

“But hardly anyone sticks to it,” says Martin Kappelsberger, shaking his head.

In the summer, the 56-year-old counted a dozen vehicles within an hour that disregarded the overtaking ban.

“Not to mention the speed.

There are real races here. ”Speed measurements are also unsuccessful.

"As soon as the car is there and the measuring point is set up, the said speed camera is already reported on the radio - and everyone drives well."

Local residents demand a speed limit

The 56-year-old narrowly escaped an accident a few years ago - in his own garden.

“I mowed the lawn, something shot past me, stones pelted down on me.” A car threw past three meters next to him and remained on the roof in the adjacent field.

The whole family now has a bad feeling about being outside.

“What happens”, muses Georg Kappelsberger, “when we have children and they play in the garden?

I'm afraid something will happen to my family. "

The only remedy for the Kappelsbergers is to limit the speed limit to 60 kilometers per hour and to make controls more closely.

That would also benefit those turning to Bierhäuslweg.

“They have to look ten times.

Because it can happen that someone is overtaking from behind. ”Nonetheless:“ Something has to happen before anything else happens. ”
