Democratic candidate Joe Biden is catching up in Pennsylvania.

According to CNN, the challenger is 49.2 percent, and President Donald Trump (Republican) 49.5 percent.

Should Biden win Pennsylvania, he would win the presidential election, because the state's 20 electorate are enough for the decision.

Initially, Trump's lead in Pennsylvania was around ten percentage points, but now it's not even one.

The president is still ahead with around 18,000 votes.

Biden's race to catch up can be explained by the postal vote, which traditionally is increasingly used by supporters of the Democrats.

Trump had repeatedly claimed that the election result could be manipulated through the postal vote.

However, he did not provide any evidence for this.

Nevertheless, he tries to take legal action to prevent the Democrats from winning.

Court rejects Trump's application

In this context, the president had to accept a defeat.

A US federal judge in Pennsylvania denied his campaign team's motion to stop the count.

The lawsuit will not be allowed, said Judge Paul Diamond.

Trump wanted to force the count to continue only when Republican observers attend.

However, following a court order, Republicans already have access to the Philadelphia polling station.

Trump's team is of the opinion that the work of the observers will be hindered.

The president currently has only 214 of the 270 electors needed to win.

As things stand, his challenger Joe Biden has at least 253 voters.

Adding the state of Arizona, where some media outlets have already proclaimed Biden the winner, adds up to 264.
