The Americans call them battleground states - those states in which the presidential election is so close that Republicans and Democrats fight at great expense - before the vote, but sometimes also afterwards.

Democrat Joe Biden will win there, reports CNN - and could therefore count on the 16 electors.

But the struggle for Michigan continues unchanged and bitter, now with legal means.
Trump's campaign team claims to have filed a lawsuit with a court in the state, demanding an immediate stop to the further counting.
The Republicans were denied in several polling stations to watch the opening of polling letters and the counting of votes, said campaign manager Bill Stepien on Wednesday.
This violated a legal right in this US state.
According to Stepiens, the lawsuit demands that the counting of votes be stopped until access to the polling stations is guaranteed.
The election letters opened without observation would also have to be checked again.
At the beginning of the count, Trump was initially in Michigan for a long time, sometimes clearly in the front.
However, this picture changed during the course of the day as more and more postal voter votes were counted, which were primarily cast in urban areas like Detroit, which are more likely to be the strongholds of the Democrats.
