Carnival with couples of princes - but without a train

At least a little bit of normality has been preserved in the carnival stronghold of Olching: On 11.11.

at 11.11 a.m. the prince couples were introduced.

There was, however, the final message that there will be no Gaudiwurm in the Amperstadt next year.

Olching

- Even the triple “Olau”, the typical Olching carnival greeting, did not want to be missed by the three carnival clubs - not from the gray, cloudy sky and not from the Corona crisis.

Nonetheless, the Olching carnival season will be “a bit dreary”, as Mayor Andreas Magg put it.

However, this is a fairly mild presentation, since the major events have all already broken away: proclamations, enthronements - and now the great carnival procession.

“We don't even need to start hoping,” said Johannes Krämer, the first chairman of the train committee.

The corona numbers and the experiences of the past months would speak for themselves.

Even if there were to be easing again, one would just as well have to expect that the measures would be tightened again.

Shrove Tuesday shouldn't fall completely flat, as Krämer's deputy, Ludwig Gruber, explains.

There could be a kind of carnival at Nöscherplatz.

“With all then applicable rules, requirements and restrictions,” adds Gruber.

And there will possibly be just as strong a security presence on site as with the normal Gaudiwurm.

Because it is important to monitor the alcohol-related carelessness in these times, a considerable effort is required.

“It won't work any other way,” emphasizes Gruber.

For 100 or 200 admitted visitors, the security service could take on a magnitude that would otherwise be ten times that number.

The effect: "Everyone should be able to come without worries or fears." It remains to be seen whether the replacement event will really be possible.

But Gruber is prepared: "We not only have a plan A and B, but also a plan C and D."

This also applies to the Faschingsgilde Olching (FGO) as well as to their new prince couple Amelie I. and Luca I., who are called Amelie Nießl and Luca Maier in real life.

“Despite everything, it's a great feeling,” said the 22-year-old Carnival Prince.

For him and his princess, who is a year younger than him, it is a special season in three respects - on the one hand, of course, because of the current situation and because they were chosen as the prince couple in the anniversary year of the FGO, which has existed as a club for 50 years this year.

In addition, the two will officiate for two years.

“It's almost something for the history books,” jokes the princess.

How many appearances the prince couple and the show guard will have is also in the stars.

"We must and can always react very quickly," explains FGO President Martina Klein-Minigshofer.

So-called outdoor appearances are certainly an option.

In this way you can show people "that the FGO is alive and that the Olching Carnival also".

A little distraction will do everyone good.

Adalbert Heim also has this in mind for “his” Olchinger Tanzfreunde (OTF).

“If you don't do anything, at some point nobody will come.

So the OTF kids trained hard as long as it was allowed.

That helped with the child prince couple Melina I and Hannes I (Melina Kessler and Hannes Wusenkow): “We are happy,” they say simply.

They too are proud to be part of this special carnival.
