Côtes-d'Armor: a 12-year-old child saves the life of a man who was having a heart attack

On the bus to go to college, a fifth grader called the fire department when he saw that a passenger had a heart attack. His responsiveness saved the life of the 56-year-old.


A 12-year-old schoolboy saved the life of a man who suffered from heart failure on a bus on Tuesday November 17, reports Ouest France.

Young Paul was on his way to the college of Saint-Quay-Portrieux (Côtes-d'Armor) by public transport when he heard a man sitting in a few rows calling for help.

“I heard a man say very distinctly 'I'm having a heart attack, call the firefighters',

” he says in the columns of the regional daily.

“I saw him diagonally (...).

He closed his eyes, tilted forward and took his head in his arms…

Around him, the schoolchildren and the few adults present did not immediately react.

The man kept calling for help - “

four times in all,

” Paul recalls.

The young boy then took out his cell phone and called for help.

The 18th immediately came to mind.

I described the situation, indicated where we were, gave the time… ”, he

explains.

The gentleman could hardly speak anymore.

It was very complicated to answer.

Thanks to the information given by Paul, a team of firefighters was dispatched to the scene within one minute of the call.

The 56-year-old victim was taken care of and hospitalized in Saint-Brieuc.

Paul's call saved this man's life.
