The practical driving test will be changed in Germany from 2021.
Among other things, the innovations are intended to help reduce the risk of accidents.
From 2021,
new regulations
for the practical driving test
will apply nationwide
There is
talk
of a "
milestone in the driving license system in Germany
"
New editions are testing
safer
and
objective
fashion
Berlin - From January 1, 2021,
the "Optimized practical driving license test" (OPFEP)
will apply in
Germany
.
With the adaptation of the
driving test, there
will be some changes for future examinees.
Practical driving test should become more objective
The general main objective of the changes is
to reduce
the high
risk
of
accidents
for
novice drivers
.
In order to enable first-time driving lessons to be safe,
TÜV
,
Dekra
and the Institute for Prevention and Traffic Safety, the Federal Association of Driving Instructors' Associations, Authorities and the Federal Highway Research Institute (BASt) have
standardized
the driving test
as well as
optimizing its
method and
content
.
The OPFEP has been scientifically examined in more than 9,000 tests.
Changes to the practical driving test in 2021
The change in the driver's license test is intended to give the driving examiner more
objectivity
in the final assessment of the learner
driver
and better feedback.
Dekra even speaks of a "
milestone in the driving license system in Germany
".
During the
driving test
, the performance of the learner is no longer recorded in writing, but in an
electronic test report
.
Eight driving tasks will be
part of the
new practical driving
test.
During the driving test, the examiner pays attention to whether the test subject changes lanes correctly, pays attention to pedestrians or whether the behavior in the roundabout is appropriate.
In addition, five
driving skills areas are
tested, which
include
, for example, traffic
monitoring
, communication or speed
adjustment
.
Practical driving test: higher costs, longer test duration
Despite the technical aids, all relevant decisions to evaluate the performance of the learner driver continue to be made by the
examiner
.
The practical thing about the system is that the
driving instructor has
an electronic test protocol available
after the
test
drive, which he can use for training purposes.
In addition, the
learner driver should receive detailed, objective feedback on his
driving
skills.
“With the new procedure, we are creating detailed standards - from electronic test reports to feedback discussions.
These are clear guidelines for more
road safety,
”says Federal Transport Minister
Andreas Scheuer
(CSU).
However, it is not just the
content
that changes with the new regulation
.
In future, the exam should take 10 minutes longer than before.
In addition, the costs for the
car inspection should
increase by more than 30%, those for the
truck by 20%
.
