For the first time in 40 years: 181 new apartments for seniors were inaugurated in Tel Aviv in a prime location on Derech Hashalom.

The Ministry of Construction and Housing, the Jewish Agency and Amigur inaugurated the project for the benefit of the elderly entitled to public housing, many of them Holocaust survivors.

This is the first population within the national initiative of the Ministry of Construction and Housing and the Jewish Agency to build 2,650 housing units for the elderly. The project included the addition of 11 floors with 181 housing units, which were added to the 109 existing ones.

Construction was completed in a record time of only 3 years.

Form 4 has been received in recent days, and in the coming weeks the population will begin.

The new building includes studio apartments for singles and two-room apartments for couples, which will offer a quality housing solution in an area accessible to health, shopping, culture and leisure centers.

Tenants also receive a basket of services, including classes and cultural activities.

Among the participants in the inauguration ceremony of the building: Chairman of the Jewish Agency - Yitzhak (Buzi) Herzog, CEO of the Jewish Agency - Amira Aharonovich, Chairman of Amigur - Aryeh Avir, CEO of Amigur - Yuval Frenkel and VP of Strategy and Companies in the firm Construction and Housing - Nathaniel Lapidot.

"We are doing social justice to those entitled to public housing in old age, who can live in quality and accessible apartments," said Minister of Construction and Housing Yaakov Litzman.

The chairman of the Jewish Agency, Yitzhak (Buzi) Herzog: "We will continue to inaugurate similar houses throughout the country in a huge operation, after years of development and construction." In about six months, a population of about 470 units is expected for the elderly in Ashkelon.
