Unprecedented Pakistani religious call for normalization with Israel: The religious leader of the Jama'i World Islam Party (JUI-F) today and former chairman of the Pakistani Ideology Council, Maulana Muhammad Khan Sharani, announced last night (Saturday) at a conference on 21:00 Pakistan time, because he supports normalization with Israel, according to the documentation of a speech published by the British-Pakistani researcher Nur Dahari.

He was asked "What is your position on Pakistani recognition of Israel?"

And the religious leader replied: "This is an international issue and I support the recognition of the State of Israel."

Sharani added that "Muslim educated people should read the Qur'an in which Muhammad says to Moshe 'We have given land in your name or we have given land to your people.'

Sharani noted that "the Qur'an and history prove to us that the land of Israel belongs only to the Jews. King David built the house of God in Jerusalem for the Israelis and not for the Palestinians."

The remarks came less than a week after Israel Today was exposed that a delegation from a large Muslim country in Asia with which Israel has no ties visited Tel Aviv.

Against the background of the publicity, Pakistan is trying to shake off any contact with Israel.

Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan's adviser on religious harmony and the Middle East, Tahir Ashrafi, responded to an advertisement in Israel Today, saying that "these are rumors aimed at causing chaos that will damage Pakistan's image in the Muslim world."

Beyond that, the Prime Minister of Pakistan himself denied the reports, adding that "I am under no pressure to normalize our relations with Israel."

A very puzzling claim after having already admitted that pressure was placed on Islamabad to make the historic move.
