The ghosts he called: The Saxon Prime Minister met controversial scientists in August and did not want to have known about the corona dangers. Now a group of deniers made a pilgrimage to the politician's home.

A group of around 30 people protested against the Corona measures on Sunday morning in front of the private property of the Saxon Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer (CDU) in Großschönau.

According to the police, the CDU politician spoke to the 30 or so people at the garden fence.

After about 15 minutes the debate ended and everyone left the place.

“It wasn't a threatening situation for me.

It is important to me to talk to people in the hope of convincing them, «Kretschmer told the German press agency.

However, when a woman demonstratively pulled a scarf in the colors of the Imperial War flag over her mouth, a limit had been reached for him.

“Then I cut the conversation off.

That went too far, ”said the 45-year-old.

What struck him during the conversation was that the protesting people in front of his house showed "such an unwillingness to take notice of realities."

As early as May, the politician faced angry corona measures skeptics on a bike tour - without much success.

Prime Minister admits mistakes

According to the police, a large number of the people gathered this time did not wear mouth and nose protection and only partially kept the required distances.

The officers established the identities of those who were still present.

In addition, a complaint was made on suspicion of violating the Assembly Act.

On Friday Kretschmer admitted errors in the corona policy.

In the autumn, due to the general mood, state politics were too hesitant to react to the pandemic with tough measures, he said in an interview with the Chemnitz »Free Press«.

In retrospect, it would have been better to shut down the country much earlier, "even if that would certainly have resulted in a lot of incomprehension among the population."

He only became aware of the drama when he visited several clinics in Saxony on December 11th, said Kretschmer: »I didn't realize that the staff in Aue had been working at the limit six weeks before my visit (...).

I would have liked to have been warned earlier. "

In August, the CDU politician met with the then heavily controversial scientists Sucharit Bhakdi and Stefan Homburg.

Both Bhakdi and Homburg belong to the camp of Corona relativizers and regularly publish, in some cases verifiably, false numbers that are intended to prove that the extent of the pandemic is not that bad.

"Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer also says: The lockdown was excessive," Homburg wrote happily on Twitter after the conversation: "Something is moving."

In mid-October Kretschmer had spoken out against new measures to combat the epidemic in Germany with the sentence "No hysteria, please".

For weeks now, Saxony has had the highest incidence of new infections of all federal states.
