Markt Peiting published an unusual appeal on its Facebook page.

The community is looking for an apartment for a family of six.

Peiting

- “Apartment wanted” is the title of the post on the Facebook page of the Peiting market and in order to underline the urgency of the matter, there are three exclamation marks before and after.

For a "special occasion" one is looking for a rental apartment for a family of six with two adults and four children, according to the article published at the end of last week.

“The apartment should be at least 100 square meters in size and be available in the near future.” Anyone who has such an object to rent can contact the mayor's anteroom at any time.

You then establish contact with the family.

Looking for an apartment for a family of six: what's behind the appeal?

The question arises as to what is behind the call, because it is quite unusual for a community to act as a real estate broker on social media.

The answer has to do with the youth center, as Mayor Peter Ostenrieder explains when asked by Schongauer Nachrichten.

Demolition or renovation: million dollar project is to be tackled in 2023

The community bought the building in Lorystraße last year after the previous owner, Maria Hoffmann, passed away and bequeathed the property to a foundation on condition that it continue to be used for youth work.

From the point of view of the municipality, the acquisition had several advantages.

On the one hand, the controversial Juze building on Kampfgartenweg was off the table because the facility can remain at its previous location.

On the other hand, it was now possible to take more time with the new building, which was still necessary, because no lease contract threatened to expire.

Instead of this year, the multi-million dollar project should now probably be tackled in 2023, also to relieve the budget.

The family has to move out before they can even think about remodeling or demolishing

But in order for this schedule to work, there is still a hurdle to overcome.

Because the house that belongs to the building complex is currently still inhabited.

Its tenant, the family of six, has to move out before any renovation or demolition can be considered.

Mayor: One tries not to leave the family out in the rain

But that sounds easier than it is.

Because in the tense real estate market in the region, apartments are in short supply, especially in the required size.

The mayor knows that too.

The family has not yet been given notice, but that will happen soon, says Ostenrieder.

At the same time one tries not to leave the family out in the rain.

“That's why we decided to help them find a place to live.

It's just a special case. "

No potential landlord has yet responded to the call, but the mayor hopes that this will change soon.

"We are happy about every hint."
