MK Abtissam Maraana (Labor) said today (Tuesday) in her inaugural speech in the Knesset that "Palestinian Arab society in Israel suffers from ongoing post-trauma, one that has never been treated or received resounding recognition." She said, "As in any post-trauma we act and act Triggers, anxiety attacks, anger, fear, mistrust, loneliness and despair.

"Immediately there will be an expulsion. Immediately they will take us out of here."

"This post-trauma does not only belong to me and my people, it also belongs to you, my Jewish brothers and sisters," she added.

"You too have wounds and there is no less pain. Six million Jews were brutally exterminated in the Holocaust, men and women were sent to the battlefields and did not return home, people were killed in terrorist attacks, civilians fell victim to hatred. Maybe it's time to recognize each other's trauma. "We have the power to dare, to make real peace. To live together Arabs and Jews, Arab and Jewish, we will learn to forgive and we will grow a healthier generation."

MK Maraana stressed that “it is our time to take action, to create a real partnership based on mutual recognition of each other’s pain.

It is our time to stop being silent and silent, it is our time to revolutionize. "

It will be recalled that MK Maraana stood in the eye of the storm in the last election campaign following her extreme posts in the past, in which she wrote blunt statements against IDF soldiers, supported a terrorist operative and spoke out in an indignant manner towards Holocaust survivors.

In November 2020, she wrote a post in support of Islamic Jihad operative and administrative detainee, Maher al-Akhars, who had been starving for a long time.

In another post in July 2020, Maraana wrote: "Another young man from the Gaza ghetto committed suicide tonight. There is no hope for despair, the brutal occupation and the oppressive Hamas regime."

In another post from 2013, she boasted that she did not stand by the siren on Memorial Day: "These were two wonderful minutes."

About a month before the election date, the Supreme Court reversed the decision of the Central Election Commission and ruled that Maraana could run on the Knesset job list.

"The Supreme Court has had its say. Candidate Ibtisam Maraanah Menuhin has expressed remorse for what she wrote more than a decade ago," the Labor Party said at the time.
