Tango is a traditional dance that originated in the most humble neighborhoods of the city of Buenos Aires since the 19th century.

In addition to being an icon of Buenos Aires, it was declared

Intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO in 2009

and for that reason it is a prominent attraction for international tourists.

The activation of the promotion of Argentine tango is among several actions that are carried out within the framework of the FITUR tourism fair, in which, on its second day, meetings were held with the airlines Air Europa and Plus Ultra in order to be able to re-establish air routes to Argentina when tourism reactivates, increase frequencies compared to pre-pandemic levels, and generate new routes. On the other hand, the President of the Royal Spanish Football Federation, Luis Rubiales, visited the stand of Argentina and gave a present to the Minister of Tourism and Sports of the Nation, Matías Lammens and spoke with the Executive Secretary of the National Institute of Tourism Promotion, Ricardo Sosa, both authorities leading the Argentine delegation.

On the other hand, the introduction of Argentina was presented, through INPROTUR as a member of the International Association for Tourism Cooperation (ASICOTUR), in order to

seek a better tourist positioning in the world

Asicotur is a non-profit organization that seeks to promote cooperation between tourist destinations, transfer knowledge, agree on ideas and share results and experiences, among other objectives.

Likewise, the authorities had a meeting with the representatives of the World Travel Tourism Council and with Online Travel Agencies and Tour Operators such as eDreams Odigeo, Viajes El Corte Inglés, among others, to show the destinations, experiences and opportunities that they will have to offer to their clients in a country with wide possibilities for foreign tourists.

Argentina participated in the FITUR Fair that took place from May 19 to 23 in the city of Madrid, Spain with the aim of being able to generate business, seek investment and position the country as an international tourist destination for when the borders open and the health situation he allows it. In this edition, health protocols were increased so that the COVID-19 virus does not spread and is not a source of contagion. The Argentine stand of more than 450 m2 had additional measures to ensure social distance, air circulation and sanitation of the entire space. The use of face masks was also mandatory and the entire delegation had a protection kit.
