"Innovation is a guarantee of longevity for companies"

CHRONICLE - Despite cultural differences, the most resilient companies have some common characteristics.


Six months before the Covid-19 hit, Marc Giget, president of the European Institute for Creative Strategies and Innovation, and Véronique Hillen, doctor of industrial design from Eindhoven University of Technology, started an international study.

Their objective: to analyze the parameters that allow companies to develop continuously and to overcome economic crises or global conflicts.

They did not imagine then that a pandemic would cause an unprecedented crisis, giving them the opportunity to see these companies at work in real time.

More than a thousand companies from different sectors have been scrutinized until this spring, from large groups to SMEs, including mid-size companies.

Many of these structures are centennial, even bicentennial.

A longevity which is closely linked to their capacity for innovation, note the authors.

Contrary to popular belief, it is the oldest companies that invest the most in research
