2021-08-25T07:12:17.820Z

With the song “Grias eng Gott” the members of the Schongau mountaineering choir started their annual meeting in the presence of Mayor Falk Sluyterman and honorary member Rosi Haseitl and immediately shouted “In de Berg I like” afterwards. The comrades also want to sing in the future, after the "hopefully waning corona restrictions", as chairman Kurt Müller noted - in public, on various occasions and in front of an audience.

- "The prospects are good," said the chairman with a view to the future. "We already have a few engagements," he listed among other things. It started with a private assignment with supporting member Josef Boneberger on his 80th birthday, and appearances with Erich Wurm and Erwin Eberle are also planned. On September 10th, an appearance follows in St. Peter bei Buching, and on September 18th the association for the first time forms a voice with a specialist.

The members of the mountaineering choir will travel to Colmar in France from October 8th to 10th. On October 8th, the choir members will be singing in the afternoon at a mass in Freiburg Cathedral and then at a pontifical mass with Archbishop Stefan Burger. Finally in the evening in the wine-growing village of Bahlingen. A reception is planned in Colmar the next day.

For a few weeks now, the musicians have been meeting in the music school every Thursday for exercise - under the new choir director. Marianne Hofmann from Hohenpeißenberg. She took over the office from Günter Brenner, who had been a choir member for 40 years and a conductor for over nine years. Among other things, she still leads the gospel choir in Hohenpeißenberg, the youth choir and the church choir. “We had previously conducted 26 job interviews and trial samples in order to find the ideal person for the position,” says Müller, who is convinced that the choir made the right decision with Hofmann.

Other dates for this year's event of the Schongau Mountaineering Choir - as far as Corona permits: November 7th memorial mass in Birkland, December 5th Advent singing in the Schongau parish church, December 16th Holy Night in the Protestant church Schongau, December 18th Vilgertshofen and December 19th Wieskirche, both Paint with the Trentino mountaineering choir.

"We all made the dates before Corona and have now postponed them by a year," said Müller.

Honors were an essential part of the meeting: Günter Brenner has been an active choir member for 40 years and a choir director or conductor for nine years.

In the future he only wants to appear as a sustaining member.

Bernd Ludwig has been singing the second bass in the mountaineering choir for four decades and remains a member. Josef Schindler (1st tenor) is characterized by 30 years of active commitment, and he will continue to do so. Ernst Erhard was retired after 46 years as a singer, 17 years of which he was chairman and remains a supporting member. After his colleagues Franz Rieger were unable to serenade his 80th birthday due to Corona, he was given a gift.

The Schongauer Bergsteigerchor now has 22 to 26 singers between the ages of 47 and 80.

"We would be happy about further growth," Müller advertises for a new member who is happy to sing.

Despite the long break, the club is financially healthy, confirmed treasurer Erich Wurm.

The members are even redesigned after the previous gap has grown old.

For this, however, the membership fee will be increased a little.
