After more than 25 years of severe accusations, singer R.
Kelly was found guilty today (Monday) of extortion, child sexual exploitation, kidnapping and solicitation for sex, a federal court in Brooklyn, New York, ruled in a trial that began Aug. 18.
Kelly was charged with the offenses of sexually abusing minors during the peak years of his career.
He himself pleaded guilty to all charges.
Among other things, the rapper was also charged with kidnapping, bribery and other sexual offenses.
The jury reached seven men and five women, and convened on Friday about a week ago.
Kelly's sentence could reach up to entire decades in prison, due to the offenses he committed.
The conviction proves that as the prosecution argued, Kelly was at the head of a criminal operation, whose whole function was to entice girls and young boys to satisfy his sexual needs.
This verdict was handed down about 13 years after the musician, whose full name is Robert Sylvester Kelly, is acquitted of charges related to child pornography in which he was charged.
