After the revelation of abusive exchanges in a Telegram loop of far-right activists targeting LFI deputies Mathilde Panot and Danièle Obono, the President of the National Assembly, Richard Ferrand, announced Tuesday that he had taken legal action.
“Alerted by my fellow MPs Mathilde Panot and Danièle Obono, victims of abject insults and seriously offensive to their dignity, I appealed to the public prosecutor under article 40 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
I assure my colleagues of my full support in the face of ignominy, ”he said on Twitter.

"" Negro cock garage ", having" frequently sexual relations with bonobos "here are the filthy remarks aimed at us Danièle Obono and me", denounces Mathilde Panot, with screenshots from a Telegram channel entitled "The Villains Fachos ”, alongside images of tweets by Danièle Obono on which anti-Semitic and racist caricatures have been affixed.
The latter has also announced that it wants to file a complaint.
Channel pinned for anti-Semitism
For its part, the Human Rights League seized the Paris prosecutor's office for these "messages and files of an anti-Semitic, hateful, racist, discriminatory and Islamophobic nature, also condoning crimes against humanity", according to a statement.
The Telegram group in question had already been denounced by reporter Taha Bouhafs for having launched a “call for contributions” aimed at “listing Jews”.

This is not the first time that MEP Danièle Obono has been targeted by racist attacks.
In the summer of 2020, L'Insoumise was the subject of an article and drawings imagining him as a slave in the 18th century in the far-right weekly Valeurs Actuelles.
The publication then caused an outcry in the political class and triggered a seizure of justice.
At the end of a trial which took place last August, the public prosecutor requested a 1,500 euros fine against Laurent Jullien, the author of the article, Geoffroy Lejeune and Erik Monjalous, respectively editorial and publication directors of Valeurs Actuelles, for “public insult of a racist nature”.
A decision is expected on September 29.
