Turkish regime forces arrested 80 students during a demonstration organized by students of Istanbul and Izmir universities to protest against the university housing crisis and the deteriorating living conditions of students.

The Turkish newspaper, Zaman, reported that the forces of the Recep Tayyip Erdogan regime arrested 80 students, 50 students in Istanbul and 30 students in Izmir, during a protest demonstration against the crisis of scarcity and high prices of student housing, noting that the security forces assaulted the students and destroyed their tents.

The newspaper quoted witnesses as saying that after the students were arrested, the security forces beat them at the entrance to the Ataturk Teaching Hospital at Kateb Selebi University in Izmir while they were undergoing a medical examination before interrogating them.

The authorities of the Turkish regime had issued arrest warrants for 118 people, including civilians, students and soldiers, under the pretext of their association with the organization of the preacher Fethullah Gulen, whom the authorities of this regime accused of being behind the coup in the country in 2016.
