Penzberg - The city of Penzberg has two new culture award winners: Dr.
Johannes Bauer and Prof. Dr.
Reinhard Heydenreuter received the award.
With a twelve-month corona delay, the award was made up for on Friday evening (October 29) in the Penzberger Stadthalle.
The two award winners were chosen by the city council in October last year: a narrow majority had decided to give the award, endowed with 1,600 euros and a sculpture, equally to Heydenreuter and Bauer.
At the gala evening in the town hall, a great lance was broken for culture and its importance for social life in general and in the city of Penzberg in particular.
"Culture is, to a certain extent, a motor for integration and cosmopolitanism," emphasized Mayor Stefan Korpan (CSU) - especially in Penzberg that boasts of its many nations.

Head of Cultural Affairs recognizes commitment
Thomas Sendl, head of the cultural office in the town hall, paid tribute to the work of the two award winners in his laudatory speech.
The city's culture award is "a gesture of honor for a tireless commitment" to keep the city so livable and lovable, stressed Sendl.
The award is given every two years.

Both laureates were city councilors
Johannes Bauer was a member of the city council for the Greens for 30 years, was second mayor and cultural advisor for two terms until 2020. Culturally, the self-confessed Nantesbucher has left his mark on the city, be it as the lecturer of the “Holy Night” reading or as the designer of the distinctive “Helix” sculpture in the nun forest. Reinhard Heydenreuter was also a member of the city council, from 2008 to 2016 for the CSU. He is the author of more than 30 publications and almost 200 articles on Bavarian history - but has never lost his Penzberg roots, as it was said. Heydenreuter was one of the founders of the local monument association in 2002 and, according to the laudator Sendl, had “done great service” to the city when he created a chronicle for the city's 100th anniversary in 2019. The culture award would be given to two Penzbergers,"Who have dedicated themselves with a lot of heart and soul to their hometown," says Sendl.
