An earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale hit Konya, central Turkey, today, but no reports of injuries or damage were reported.
"The epicenter of the tremor was at a depth of 6.82 km below the surface of the earth in the Meram region of Konya province," the Anatolia News Agency, a spokeswoman for the Turkish regime, quoted the Presidency of Disaster and Emergency Management as saying in a statement.
Turkey is among the most seismically active regions in the world as it is located on many active fault lines and has witnessed many earthquakes and earthquakes in the past.
