With the aim of disseminating health information and enhancing the community’s role in communicating awareness messages about the need to receive anti-Coronavirus vaccines for people over the age of 18, the Ministry of Health held a consultative workshop this evening with the participation of official, medical, artistic, sports and media personalities at the Damaroz Hotel in Damascus.

Director of Primary Health Care at the Ministry of Health, Dr. Razan Al-Tarabishi, indicated in a statement to SANA on the sidelines of the workshop that the number of recipients of the first dose of the anti-Coronavirus vaccine did not exceed 850,000 people, representing less than 5 percent of the total population of Syria, and that work is currently being done to reach the rate 20% of the population points to the need to spread awareness messages about the importance and effectiveness of the vaccine.

In turn, the representative of the World Health Organization in Syria, Dr. Akjamal Makhtumova, indicated that the organization is working to combat and prevent the Corona virus, and that there is a large number of false information spreading in conjunction with its spread, and hence the importance of influencers in society and their main role in combating rumors and emphasizing through them the need to receive the vaccine, noting He pointed out that the organization is working on a scientific basis and that the vaccines around the world are the result of numerous and recognized tests, so it is encouraged to take them as they are highly effective.

The artist Duraid Laham noted the role of artists and their impact on society in terms of spreading awareness of the importance of the vaccine and its role in alleviating the severity of infection and cooperating with the ministry regarding providing medical messages related to the virus, while the former player of the Syrian football team Maher Al-Sayed indicated that the national duty requires every individual to receive the vaccine. Spreading awareness about the risks of infection with the virus to protect society.

In turn, the President of the Family Planning Association, Dr. Hazar Al-Miqdad, pointed to the importance of the partnership between the government sector and the local community and the intensification of efforts made to confront the Corona epidemic, indicating that the association is working intensively to spread health education in cooperation with its partners in various governorates on the importance of vaccines and personal prevention methods.

The workshop was attended by the Minister of Health, Dr. Hassan Al-Ghabash, his assistant, Dr. Ahmed Dhamiriya, the assistant Minister of Information, Ahmed Dawa, and the head of the General Sports Federation, Firas Mualla.
