The parents of Tov Roy and Halli Oded are starting to wake up from the anesthesia they have been in since the car accident last weekend.

But who wants to return home when his children are not alive, when even the pregnancy that began ended in a fetus buried next to the big brothers, whom he never knew?

Roads in Judea and Samaria were once thought to be a death trap for stone-throwing or Molotov cocktails.

One night 12 years ago, I returned from a weekend in Alon Shvut to our home in Kiryat Arba at the time. Four children were dozing in a car and one rabbit was chirping in a cage. An Israeli vehicle that was traveling in exactly the same lane collided with us again.

I do not remember it because I lost consciousness. These details were told by the Arab eyewitnesses to the security officer. I remember the first few seconds after the vehicle stabilized, the airbags and the quiet. I was afraid to look back, but then one of the kids shouted, "Must save the snow, she must be scared in the cage," and I turned around. Everyone tried to open the belts to save the rabbit. We were evacuated to Hadassah but we returned home the next day, thanked for the miracle and hitchhiked to the garage.

Thanks to the eyewitnesses who rescued us, there was someone who would say I was not to blame for the accident, and would save me from the lawsuit that the Israeli car driver who got stuck in the opposite lane wanted to file.

Thanks to eyewitnesses I had the number of the offending vehicle, but the identity of the offender in the yellow cab was as relevant as the type of scent in the scent tree that swayed in front of the windshield, because a Palestinian vehicle is immune from the verdict.

In such a situation you are claiming your insurance (including deductible), and whoever committed the crime in front of you will continue to harm others.

My vehicle was designated "Total Loss," and a police order was issued to take it off the road.

It could be that after it was dismantled and turned into a scrap heap, metal owners used parts of it to build a new death machine.

Judea and Samaria roads are full of "shtovot" - vehicles built from parts that were damaged in accidents and are not standard.

Under the Oslo Accords, Israel delegated enforcement authority on Judea and Samaria roads to the Palestinian Authority, but is not interested in dealing with it. An Israeli traffic policeman who stops a Palestinian vehicle is ineffective, and can at most register a report that will never be paid.

Palestinian execution will not pursue traffic offenders.

Cameras can also not be used on these roads, because if only one side - the Jew - can be punished as a result of traffic offenses, selective enforcement will be created and who has the power for further discrimination.

So the abandonment in the main axis remains.

By the way, within the localities there is great enforcement - reports of cell phone use near the house, fines for parking near the locality's grocery store, and sometimes even for a quick stop in the squares - which is important, but it is easy. Although the danger of the roads is no less, and even after the intruders are difficult to track.

The bypass roads were paved to "reduce friction."

In practice, more Palestinian cars travel in them than Israeli cars.

There are Jewish delinquent drivers, to be clear.

But they give the verdict when it happens.

It's scary to be a government that fights with the PA, it's more scary to be citizens who practice Samaria.

Were we wrong?

Fixed!
