Mexico presents the air routes of Felipe Ángeles airport

Felipe Angeles Airport is ready to take flight into the future. This Thursday, the Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications and Transport (SICT) has published the new air routes for this aerodrome. The air navigation charts were presented electronically in the Aeronautical Information Publication manual (PIA), which contains, among others, the arrival, departure and approach procedures for civil operations at the new airport in Santa Lucía, State of Mexico.

The more than 900-page document will allow pilots, airlines and aeronautical service providers to consult the information regarding the routes, procedures and airports in which they intend to operate. "The new air routes were designed in strict adherence to national and international standards on air safety, so that the separations between aircraft, obstacles and the ground comply with the provisions of the applicable standards," said the agency in a release.

A little over three months after the completion of the new airport, projected for March 21, 2022, the Government of Mexico indicates that the new routes allow increasing the capacity of the airspace, with which the current International Airport of the City de México (AICM) will lower its operations to 61 per hour in its airspace, according to data from the agency.

For the layout of the routes, there was a coordination between members of the aeronautical community of the country, such as the Mexican Air Force;

the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the Federal Aviation Administration in the United States (FAA) and the Colegio de Pilotos Aviadores de México (CPAM), among others.

“There was continuous feedback to develop safe, efficient flight procedures in accordance with current national and international regulations, which guarantee the simultaneous interaction of the airports of the Metropolitan Airport System, among which are the international airports of Mexico City, Toluca. , Puebla, Cuernavaca and the new Felipe Ángeles International Airport ”, says the SICT.

In the 77 airports that make up the national airport network, from January to October 2021, more than 63 million passengers were served, which represents an increase of almost 66 percent compared to the same period in 2020, and the volume is expected to of air operations grows the following year as the economic recovery continues after the coronavirus crisis.
