The interview given by the former American president to one of the most important journalists in Israel - amazing, and much more appropriate, for informal conversation, not for quotation or attribution, but Trump like Trump: he says what he thinks, and thinks what he says.
Part of his remarks stem from childish anger over Netanyahu congratulating Joe Biden on his election, last year, as president (instead of joining the bizarre claim that the American election was fake, rather than acknowledging its results ...). Part of his endless ignorance (he said, he asked for five minutes of an explanation of the Golan Heights, before acknowledging its annexation to Israel, and interrupted the explanation after a minute, when he "realized" that this was an important real estate deal worth tens of billions of dollars). He understood the demographic problem (remember his statement to Abdullah II, King of Jordan, that if Israel did not withdraw from the territories, it would have a prime minister named Muhammad?), And Israel's existential need to reach the border between it and the Palestinians. Trump was disappointed. That Netanyahu paid lip service to peace, and did not mean it. In his superficial and childish analysis, Trump understood the simple truth: the one who really has no partner in our sad story is the Palestinian side.Refusing even to meet the elderly and peace-loving leader, who sits half an hour away from him.
Not a protective wall. The Minister of Internal Security, Amar Bar-Lev, was right when he spoke about the need to treat settlers who harm Palestinian residents in various ways with the utmost severity.
