Russia has announced the ban on the entry of 7 Britons into its territory in accordance with the principle of reciprocity and in response to the sanctions imposed by Britain against 7 Russian citizens over the alleged poisoning case of dissident Alexei Navalny.
“Under far-fetched and absurd pretexts, last August, the British government announced the imposition of personal restrictions on 7 Russian citizens because of what it considered their direct responsibility in the case of the alleged poisoning of Navalny,” RIA Novosti news agency quoted Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova as saying. This step is another baseless attack against Russia by London and a practical confirmation of the British government's intent to continue to follow a destructive course in bilateral affairs."
"In response to the unfriendly actions of London and on the basis of the principle of reciprocity, it has been decided to impose personal sanctions on a proportionate number of British representatives closely involved in anti-Russian activities," it added.
She pointed out that "the continuous announcement by the British authorities of sanctions nullifies the attempts made by the Russian side at various levels to return relations between the two countries to the path of building" London calling once again to abandon the front line with regard to Russia, because no unfriendly steps will remain without An appropriate response.
