Unusual picture on the “Tagesschau”: A breakdown is causing problems for the ARD news program on Sunday.
Hamburg - Serious problems threaten Germany shortly before Christmas: The Omikron variant threatens to take over the pandemic in Germany - the expert council of Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) is already calling for restrictions.
With this far-reaching news, the “Tagesschau” opened on Sunday evening (December 19).
At the same time, the ARD news flagship came into focus with a rather curious side note: At prime time, the program produced by NDR had to struggle with technical problems.
ARD “Tagesschau”: Breakdown on Sunday evening - presenter apologizes twice
Because news anchor Julia-Niharika Sen read the reports in front of the simple blue background image of the “Tagesschau” broadcasts.
The usual illustrative photos in the back of the anchorwoman were missing - as was the overlay with the name Sens.
“Ladies and gentlemen, we have technical problems with this program.
Unfortunately, it is currently not possible for us to play background images - we apologize for that, ”said the spokeswoman after about six minutes of broadcasting time before moving on to a report about the visit by Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht (SPD) to Lithuania.
There was no improvement: The 8.15 p.m. edition of the “Tagesschau” had to do without any photo background.
The single-player contributions flickered across the screens without restriction.
Shortly before the end of the show, Sen asked "again to apologize".
“Tagesschau” flop: Twitter gently mocks - another ARD “failure” in the evening
The usually sharp-tongued commentators on the short message service Twitter took it calmly.
"Why doesn't a colleague paint something on cardboard and hold it in the picture?
Doing it yourself is completely okay during the Christmas season, ”scoffed a user.
Another was pleased that at least the "crime scene" ran "smoothly" from 8.15 p.m.
The ARD viewers still had to prepare for another change on Sunday evening: The usual political talk "Anne Will" at 9.45 pm was canceled.
However, technical problems were not the reason here.
