The IDF is changing its policy of opening fire in Judea and Samaria, so that it will be possible to shoot stone throwers and Molotov cocktails - even after the act, when they escape.
This was first published here yesterday (Sunday).
According to the new policy, the shooting must take place in the "combat zone", ie immediately after the incident and only when it comes to incidents where there is a real danger to life for the forces.
About a month ago, the IDF changed its policy of opening fire, with the main change being a permit to fire on thieves and ammunition thieves at IDF bases and fire areas.
The exact opening fire regulations are considered classified and therefore cannot be detailed, and it is important to emphasize that the soldiers are still subject to a certain order of operations and a suspicious arrest procedure, but now have more options to neutralize the smugglers and thieves.
Matan Peleg, chairman of the "If You Will" movement that works to change the opening fire regulations and for IDF soldiers: "We welcome the critical change in the fire opening regulations, after more than a decade of tying IDF soldiers' hands. Immediately stones, even though they are fleeing - as long as they are in the field. This is a welcome change that will help the forces stop the insane rampage of stone throwing that has spread in the field in recent months. They will receive real backing all the way not only from their commanders but also from the IDF.
