A third-level fire broke out in Ma Yau Tong Village, Tseung Kwan O. At 8:37 pm today (20th), the police received a report from a number of villagers, alleging that the fire broke out on the side of a mountain near Chun Sheng Garden in Ma Yau Tong Village.
Sources at the scene said that a squatter was on fire, burning debris, and there was an explosion. During the fire, the fire became more and more fierce. Firefighters arrived at the scene to fight the fire. It was upgraded to a third-class fire at 8:56, using two jets and four groups of smoke. Cap team rescued.
The fire was surrounded at 9:15 and was brought under control at 10:18. The personnel continued to shoot water at the fire site to fight the fire.
In the fire, a 69-year-old man surnamed Chen was sent to hospital with burns in critical condition.
Sources at the scene said that before the fire broke out, the burned old man had a dispute with a neighbor man over the issue of keeping a dog. After that, the fire broke out. The police were investigating afterwards and arrested a 67-year-old man on suspicion of arson.
The police said that at 8:36 pm on the 20th, a number of people reported that there was a suspected fire in a squatter on Ma Yau Tong Road, Tseung Kwan O.
The officers arrived at the scene and found a 69-year-old man surnamed Chen off the upper site. He was injured in his head, hands and feet. He was soberly sent to Queen Elizabeth Hospital for treatment.
After preliminary investigations, it is believed that the 67-year-old man surnamed Sun and Chen Nan had disputes over trivial matters at Shangzhi, during which Sun suspected that he poured flammable liquid on Chen Lin.
Sun was arrested for "injury" and is currently being detained for investigation. The case is handed over to the Tseung Kwan O Police District Crime Squad for follow-up.
