The Christ Child was out and about in Graefelfing.

The fire brigade saw it fly - and photographed it.

Will this picture adorn the next advent calendar?

Graefelfing

- Julia Fuchs has risen.

A year ago she was still an angel, now she flies through the air as the Christ Child.

Always with you: her mother's wedding dress.

The 30-year-old is responsible for public relations for the Graefelfingen fire brigade and is happy to come up with something special for Christmas.

Last year her Christmas greeting was so successful that this year it was allowed to decorate the Advent calendar of the fire department magazine and thus made it into numerous living rooms in Germany (we reported).

The success of last year sparked the ambition in Julia Fuchs to go all out again this year - and throw herself back into her mother's wedding dress.

Nine helpers lend a hand

The turntable ladder, which is no longer so new, plays one of the main roles again, but this time not as part of a Christmas tree, but rather in secrecy. Fuchs comrades recently attended a training course on the subject of fall protection. Fuchs saw photos of someone hanging vertically on the turntable ladder. "That's when I came up with the idea." It has to work horizontally, she said. Indeed, it worked.

Fuchs found nine helpers to provide the photo.

Two comrades trained in fall protection hung her up, her mother helped her into her wedding dress, the machinist Sebastian Mory operated the basket of the turntable ladder and made it fly.

Others made sure that three fire brigade vehicles were parked in front of the tool shed and that youth fire fighters filmed and photographed the whole thing.

It is now documented how the Christ Child hovers through the air above the volunteer fire brigade on his way to the Graefelfingern.

Floating fun

Fuchs took great pleasure in flying at a height of twelve meters. "I thought it was really funny." Her parents saw it differently. "They left when I was upstairs, I think they didn't want to see that." It took five to six attempts before the photo appeared good enough for Fuchs. She floated in the air for a total of almost 20 minutes. The only thing missing was the snow. Yet again. Last year, the photo was taken in October, when the snow was simulated with foam. This time it snowed in the days before the recording, but until everything was prepared, there was only gray mud left. Fuchs did not want to resort to foam again: “It doesn't all have to be the same.” A filter now conjured up winter in the picture. She returned the wedding dress to her mother with thanks. "That has to hang in the basement first",says the 30-year-old. But at least it came out big twice after the wedding.

Fuchs is now curious whether the photo will be as well received as last year.

In any case, she sends it into the race for the picture of the Advent calendar of the fire department magazine.

“I will definitely submit it.” However, your hope of winning is not very high.

"If we win twice in a row, that would also be unfair to the others."
