After rainwater ran from Buchenweg into an underground car park last summer, the municipality of Finsing improved the street drainage in this area.

Finsing

- The municipality of Finsing wants to improve the road drainage in the area of Weidenweg and Buchenweg in Neufinsing.

In the course of the expansion of the children's area Zur Sonnwend, further gullies and a drainage ditch are to be built there.

Ludwig Lex (FWF) addressed the problem of the drainage situation in this area last August: "The rainfall wasn't overly dramatic here this year, but the underground car park on Weidenweg still filled up twice," he said at the time in the municipal council.

The rainwater came from the road, most of it from Buchenweg.

This problem was also addressed in the citizens' assembly (we reported).

Mayor Max Kressirer (WGE) explained in the municipal council that the seepage systems at the sports area on Buchenweg were very old and could no longer absorb the amount of rainwater. A double garage was actually planned on Weidenweg, but there was an underground garage exit, added Managing Director Helmut Fryba to the problem: "If the water rises three centimeters on the street, it runs down there immediately."

The flooding of the garage - more than 100 cubic meters of water ran down - actually comes from the parking spaces at the sports home. There is around 1200 square meters of sealed area, but only three relatively small seepage shafts with two gullies. In heavy rain, they overflow, the water follows the slope, runs in the direction of Weidenweg, where the street drainage itself is full, and seeks its way into the underground car park. "There is not a lack of inlet options, but of outlet options," explained Guido Schuster from the Preiss & Schuster engineering office.

The problem is to be solved in the course of the construction of the kindergarten – with a drainage ditch and two new gullies in Buchenweg, so that the street itself can completely absorb the rainwater and nothing runs into Weidenweg.

"It's a voluntary service, but I would still recommend it," Fryba said.

Funds for this are included in the outdoor facilities for the kindergarten.

"I believe that we can significantly improve the situation with this measure," said Kressirer.

The council voted unanimously in favor of the work.
