CHRONICLE - Can we speak of extremism or populism when nearly half of voters seem to want a break with the established order?


Should we fear populism?

Valérie Pécresse assures it, following Emmanuel Macron.

"I make a tight border with the far right,"

explains the LR candidate (RTL, Monday), targeting Marine Le Pen and Éric Zemmour.

In the event of a final duel between the president and one of these two candidates, the voice of Pécresse will not go to this right side.

"At the table of the Republicans, the extremes have no place."

Mélenchon, Le Pen and Zemmour will be

“undesirable”.

The problem is that these three represent more than 40% of the voting intentions.

Can we therefore speak of extremism or populism when almost half of the voters seem to want a break with the established order?
