The European Union agreed to provide the regime in Kiev with new batches of weapons, while it announced with a number of other countries outside the bloc, in addition to Canada, to close their airspace to Russian aircraft.
"EU foreign ministers have agreed to provide Ukraine with lethal weapons worth 450 million euros," said Josep Borrell, the EU's commissioner for foreign affairs and security.
Burwell added that the countries of the Union also agreed to close their airspace to Russian planes, in addition to stopping dealing with the Russian Central Bank, in coordination with the member states of the Group of Seven.
For her part, British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss confirmed that the G7 countries agreed to continue arms deliveries to Ukraine and expand sanctions against Russia.
