The Ukraine war caused new record prices at gas stations in February.

Both Super E10 and Diesel reached record levels at the end of the month.

Munich – Gasoline and diesel have become a little more expensive as a result of the Ukraine conflict*.

On Monday, as on the previous day, historic highs were reached in Germany.

The last day of February was therefore the most expensive day of the month - and at the same time "the most expensive day ever" at the pumps.

Fuel prices: Six to seven cents more expensive since the Russian attack

For a liter of Super E10, drivers had to pay an average of 1.816 euros per day, as reported by the ADAC automobile club on Tuesday.

A liter of diesel cost an average of 1.737 euros.

Within a day, the liter prices rose by a few tenths of a cent.

It's up six to seven cents since the Russian attack began on Thursday.

The reason for the high prices is Russia's attack on Ukraine.

According to the ADAC, the war led to new highs on the international raw materials markets.

The price for a barrel of Brent crude oil recently fluctuated around 100 US dollars (89.52 euros).

Just three months ago, the price for a barrel was around 70 US dollars.

Petrol and diesel prices: ADAC advises taking advantage of price fluctuations

In view of the high fuel prices, the ADAC called for relief for drivers.

The increase in the tax distance allowance of 38 cents should apply from the first kilometer in the future.

Currently, the flat rate is only calculated from the 21st kilometer.

The ADAC also advised motorists to make greater use of the price fluctuations at petrol stations.

It's also worth taking a look at the fuel prices in Germany's neighboring countries.

If you live near the border, you can often save a lot of money here.
