Gloria-Sophie Burkandt speaks about the role of women on International Women's Day.

The daughter of Prime Minister Markus Söder puts forward theses that are more than daring.

Munich – International Women's Day is celebrated today, March 8th.

It is not only a day to honor and celebrate the achievements and accomplishments of women around the world, but also to point out what is still amiss.

In many areas, such as salary, women are often worse off than their male colleagues.

Due to precarious employment and part-time employment, women are even more affected by poverty in old age than men.

This was determined, for example, by the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth.

International Women's Day originally came about as an initiative of socialist organizations before World War I and the date dates back to the women's movement during the Russian Revolution in 1917, according to the United Nations website.

Then as now, women fight for independence and self-determination.

A perfect occasion to ask celebrity women about their image about their gender.

In this context, Gloria-Sophie Burkandt (23), the daughter of Bavaria's Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU), gave

an interview to

Bild.de.

International Women's Day: Gloria-Sophie Burkandt believes that women were more respected in the 20th century

The 23-year-old is in the process of building a life of her own, beyond the shadow of her famous father.

She studies and earns her living by modeling.

She also jets around the world and recently shared her trip to the USA and Mexico with her followers on Instagram.

The statement in the

interview is surprising that she doesn't like being a woman.

In her opinion, women are less respected today than they were in the last century.

At that time the family ties would have been closer and the cohesion better.

Then the 23-year-old model makes a daring thesis.

“However, I observe that at that time the German women were happier with themselves and their lives.

Back then, a woman's goals were different.” At that time, the focus of women was on starting a family and raising children.

They had to suppress their femininity in order to gain recognition from the male sex, claims Burkandt.

That's why she's glad that women now have more opportunities for self-realization.

International Women's Day: Gloria-Sophie Burkandt thinks that many men would not respect women

Burkandt emphasizes again: “Women were more respected back then.

We live in a world where a lot of men don't respect women.” Many couples also think they're together for the wrong reasons.

The women would suffer particularly in this day and age.

But she sees a solution to the problem.

Women need financial independence - also for their well-being.

But apparently she's only talking about other women here.

A few paragraphs later, she presents her situation differently.

When asked if she had to fight for her self-determination, the 23-year-old replies to

Bild

: "I didn't have to fight.

I am very fortunate to be the daughter of a prime minister and to have an amazing mother.

I don't need to struggle, everything comes very easily and I'm nothing but a student and model for now.

I have more than 100 percent of the girls and women in this world and I'm only 23 years old.” She goes on to say that if she has any problems, she only has to call her mother, her two agents or her father.

That's why she wants to help other women in her area "without wanting to be arrogant".

International Women's Day: The 23-year-old draws a questionable World War comparison

At the end of the interview, the 23-year-old is asked to take a look at the future of today's youth.

This one turns out to be pretty dark and a little confusing.

"All of us young people are not unlucky, but a generation without a future." The corona pandemic and uncertain world politics - above all the escalating Ukraine crisis - would have led to this.

Anyone and everyone could die at any time as a result of the policies of these people like Putin, says Burkandt.

And then a questionable comparison follows: “My generation is like the generation from 1914 and 1939. A sacrificed generation.

It's just a little more comfortable for us than it was back then."
