The moment a woman opens the door to a hidden room in her home and discovers what is inside it (rooney8900)

A couple is left in shock after encountering a secret room inside the new house they bought, and if that's not creepy enough - the room looks like a torture cellar.

The British "SUN" reported that the homeowners discovered the room after buying the property in Logan, Utah.

Although at first it seemed to be just a regular living room, it was discovered that one of the furniture, which looked completely generic, had hidden a hidden basement behind it.

The mother of two who discovered the room explained that a bookcase placed near one of the walls seemed a bit inclined on its side, so she decided to move it.

She very quickly realized that it was fixed to the wall and actually served as a door to a secret room, which she had no idea existed.

The new tenant explained that the room was "not included in the lists or drawings" of the house built in 1978, which made her very suspicious about the secret room.

She revealed in Reddit chilling pictures of the stage where she opens the bookcase and discovers the basement behind the wall.

The couple came across the room after buying the house and explained that there is no record of the secret room built and hidden behind nearly 4.5 feet of concrete under the back porch.

"There is also a 2.5-meter-thick ceiling and so do the walls," she wrote.

And what was behind it was extremely scary (Photo: Screenshot, Reddit / @ u / gundam2017)

The photo, which appears to have been taken with a night-vision camera, shows an almost empty room with a folding chair in the center.

Certain objects found inside it, led Reddit users to offer ideas for what the room was used for.

The woman wrote: "I have to see what happens to the light here, but there is a clean air flow here and there is also electricity in it."

Some of the respondents were convinced for some reason that the room served as a secret bunker of a serial killer.

"Here's a project for you: look for cases of people who have disappeared in the area, and we can try to determine how many of them were tortured in your new home."

Another person wrote: "The chair looks like a place where someone answers, it's very cool. Good luck with the haunted room."

Another surfer offered a more plausible explanation and claimed that the house belonged to a relative.

"My wife's grandfather used to live there. It's in southern Logan, Utah. It's a 'panic room' that was only recently built, eight years ago. It's more of a grandfather's project than a panic room."

The mother who discovered the room said: "It makes a lot more sense, especially when you see how much electricity there is in the room. Tell the person who built it thanks to the cool house, and that he is welcome to jump in and see what we become of it."

She also updated that she plans to turn the basement into a gym.
