“An unknown person attacked Novaya Gazeta editor-in-chief and Nobel Peace Prize winner Dmitry Muratov in a train carriage,” the newspaper announced on its Telegram channel.

The second photo shows a sleeper train compartment splashed with a large amount of blood-red colored liquid.

The Novaya Gazeta newspaper announced at the end of March that it was suspending its online and paper publications in Russia until the end of the intervention in Ukraine, in the midst of the Kremlin's hardening against dissonant voices.
