Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parilla stressed that suspending Russia's membership in the Human Rights Council threatens independent states and does not contribute to a settlement in Ukraine.
And the media quoted Rodriguez as saying yesterday evening, “The suspension of Russia’s membership does not lead to the promotion of a peaceful and lasting negotiated settlement in Ukraine,” adding: “Today Russia .. and tomorrow could be the role of any of the southern countries that do not bow to the interests of Western hegemony and maintain its independence.”
Rodriguez asked if the council members intend to suspend the membership of the United States, which has violated the rights of the Cuban people with its blockade for more than 60 years, saying, "It is the longest, flagrant, widespread and systematic violation of the human rights of an entire people and an act of genocide against an entire country."
Yesterday, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution suspending Russia's participation in the United Nations Human Rights Council.
