Russia's permanent representative to the European Union, Vladimir Chizhov, considered that Europe is close to reaching the ceiling of its capabilities to impose new sanctions against Russia.
Chizhov said in an interview on Russia 24 channel: "I think that the sanctions are close to reaching their ceiling," noting that the European countries with these sanctions "paralyze themselves, not Russia."
Chizhov stressed that the ban imposed by the European Union on the import of Russian coal will not harm the Russian economy, adding that "there are many buyers of Russian coal in the world."
On the other hand, Russia's ambassador in Oslo, Timuraz Ramishvili, announced that Moscow would take concrete retaliatory measures in response to the expulsion of its diplomats from Norway.
"Our country will take appropriate response measures, and our steps will be concrete," RIA Novosti news agency quoted Ramishvili as saying.
Earlier, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova confirmed that Russia would take the appropriate response to the Norwegian Foreign Ministry's announcement of the expulsion of three Russian diplomats from its territory.
