The Nicaraguan government rejected Russia's suspension from the United Nations Human Rights Council.

Through a statement issued this Friday, the Nicaraguan Ministry of Foreign Affairs described as a violation of human rights and an aggression against the peoples any action aimed at "excluding or suspending the participation of countries and their governments" in the International organizations.

The document issued by the government of President Daniel Ortega, is issued a day after the UN General Assembly, with 93 votes in favor, passed a resolution that suspends membership rights in the Human Rights Council of the Russian Federation .

In the approved document, to which CNN had access, the Council says it is "gravely concerned" by reports of "serious and systematic violations and abuses of human rights" and "violations of international humanitarian law" committed by the Russian Federation during its invasion of Ukraine.

Nicaragua, along with Bolivia and Cuba, were among the Latin American countries that on Thursday voted against suspending Russia from the Human Rights Council.

The Ortega government says it is committed to all humanitarian efforts carried out with "respect and neutrality" to maintain peace and dialogue between nations.

The statement does not mention the events that precipitated the General Assembly vote, such as the findings of dozens of civilian deaths in Bucha, a town located on the outskirts of Kyiv.
