2022-04-10T18:04:20.041Z

The outgoing president (28.6%) and the RN candidate (23.9%) took the lead in the first round. They are ahead of Jean-Luc Mélenchon (20.1%), Éric Zemmour (7%), Yannick Jadot (4.8%) and Valérie Pécresse (4.7%).

A first for more than 40 years.

For the second time in the history of the Fifth Republic, the French are preparing to experience the return match of a poster they have already attended.

According to the estimates of the results provided by Ifop this Sunday evening, Emmanuel Macron and Marine Le Pen rose to the top of the first round of the presidential election of 2022. The outgoing president would have received around 28.6% of the vote, against about 23.9% to his opponent RN.

The two candidates, who clashed in 2017, will be decided by voters on Sunday April 24, the day of the second round.

The ten other contenders who were running for the Élysée therefore failed to qualify.

Among them is notably the Insoumis Jean-Luc Mélenchon, who came third with 20.1%.

He is very clearly ahead of his competitors, including the nationalist Éric Zemmour (7%) - who falls below the symbolic bar of 10%.

Behind, the ecologist Yannick Jadot (4.8%) and the LR Valérie Pécresse (4.7%) - who seems to be collapsing in sixth place - do not seem able to exceed the 5% threshold, and should not have their campaign expenses reimbursed by the state.

Just like the deputy Jean Lassalle (3.3%).

At the bottom of the table, the communist Fabien Roussel (2.5%) creates the surprise by doing better than the Socialist Party, whose representative Anne Hidalgo (2%) achieves the worst score in the history of his camp.

Only the sovereignist Nicolas Dupont-Aignan (1.8%), the anti-capitalist Philippe Poutou (0.7%), and the Trotskyist Nathalie Arthaud (0.6%) do less well, and close the march of this presidential election of 2022.
