Günding - In 2013, the village of Günding was flooded by a flood of the century (46.5 cubic meters/second), which caused considerable damage.

The water level was thus higher than the maximum value of 45.0 cubic meters/second that had been used up to that point.

For the new calculations for flood protection, 15 percent is added due to climate change.

The first visible precautions for flood protection were taken last year with the felling of trees and bushes.

Now it's on to the home stretch.

BY INGRID KOCH

On Maundy Thursday, the water management office asked all interested citizens and local politicians to an information event in the sports hall in Günding, in cooperation with the municipality of Bergkirchen and the commissioned engineering office ERD from Munich, to inform residents in particular about the timing of the construction measures, the necessary road closures and any other inform impairments.

After the presentation, the citizens could ask questions to those responsible.

The costs for the extensive measures, which according to the current status will last until the end of October 2024, will be borne 50 percent each by the water management office and the municipality of Bergkirchen.

After the welcome by Mayor Robert Axtner, who was happy about the great interest of around 100 citizens, Constanze Hecker from the water management office (planning and construction department) introduced himself, before Sebastian Auer from the ERD planning office gave the following one-hour, very vivid presentation Steps explained: Current status of the implementation planning/tendering, expansion of the base of the Brucker Strasse bridge, creation of a flood basin including corrugated steel passage, expansion of the Bulachgraben, new bridge construction on St.-Vitus-Strasse (including overlapping new bridge construction on the Maisach), flood protection wall at the sports field, elevation of the terrain and the Division into two construction lots (earthworks and civil works) including schedule and prognosis of the construction process.

In any case, the goal is “to give the water more space”, but the people from Günding have to be patient, or, to quote Mayor Robert Axtner: “It will get on our nerves.” The time it takes to complete is between 12 and 65 weeks.

And according to Auer, there are uncertainties: "These are the delivery difficulties caused by the crisis and the spectacular prices".

SV Günding is also badly affected by the flooding, and the sports club now has to adapt to significant restrictions, such as access and limited game operations.

A flood protection wall up to 1.80 meters high and 2.50 meters wide with a length of 530 meters is being built on the site.

It will have two passages and a grandstand with 50 seats.

65 weeks are planned for this, due to the construction in stages due to the soil conditions.

Auer wants to make sure that the main area of the SVG can be fully used.

There were a number of questions from citizens about the restrictions, for example about the bridge construction in St.-Vitus-Straße: "How do I get from Alt-Günding to the sports field and children's home?" The planner's answer: "Access to SV Günding and the kindergarten will be possible remain available as far as possible.

Restrictions must be expected.

Particular attention is paid to the accessibility of the kindergarten.

Approximate duration of work in this area: 20 weeks.”

Another question was whether the groundwater level on Werkallee would drop.

"It's not getting worse," was the expert's reply.

It was also requested that the dates for the closures be announced in good time.

The mayor assured that.

And he promised to put the complete presentation and contact persons online so that citizens can find out in detail what to expect in peace and quiet.

Around 100 listeners wanted to find out more about the flood protection measures and came to the Gündinger sports hall.
