A 6- to 7-month-old baby girl was found dead in a subdivided room on King's Road in North Point yesterday (23rd) night, and a 24-year-old woman was sent to hospital.
Police classified the case as a homicide early this morning and arrested the woman.
At about 9 o'clock last night, the police received a report from a man that a woman and a 6- to 7-month-old baby girl were found unconscious in a unit of the Palace Building, 301-319 King's Road, North Point.
Officers rushed to the scene to find out and found that the woman was still awake, but the baby girl was unresponsive. Later, the ambulance confirmed that the baby girl had died on the spot.
The woman was then taken to Eastern District Hospital by ambulance for treatment.
The Eastern District Police District Serious Crime Squad took over the follow-up of the case, classified the case as a homicide early this morning, and arrested the woman who was sent to the hospital.
The baby girl's body was taken to the mortuary at 3:00 a.m. by a worker, pending confirmation of the cause of death.
It is reported that the above address is a subdivided housing unit, and the two are in a mother-daughter relationship.
The mother and daughter lived together in a subdivided unit in the Palace Building, North Point, for about three months, and the father and mother would visit once a week on average.
When the master and grandma visited the site as usual at 9 o'clock last night, they were shocked to see that the baby girl was unconscious, while the mother was lying beside the baby girl.
The ambulancemen arrived at the scene to give first aid to the baby girl, but unfortunately the baby girl was unable to recover. The mother regained consciousness after treatment, her neck was red and swollen, and she was emotional when she was sent to the hospital.
