Emmanuel Macron was re-elected on Sunday as President of the Republic with a score of between 57.6 to 58.5% of the vote against Marine Le Pen (41.5-42.4%) according to initial estimates.
A clear victory tempered by the notably tight gap with the National Rally party and high abstention (28.2%).
In the first round of the presidential election, the outgoing president came first in the votes cast (27.85%), ahead of the far-right candidate (23.15%) and the candidate of La France insoumise, Jean-Luc Mélenchon ( 21.95%).

Given a long time favorite to his own succession, Emmanuel Macron becomes at only 44 years old the first outgoing president reappointed outside cohabitation, since the adoption of direct universal suffrage in 1962. He left for a five-year term.
But, unlike 2002 and 2017, the “republican front” is no longer as mobilizing.
He will have to take this into account in his way of governing and in the choice of his future prime minister, at the risk of a social explosion.
