Honor X8 or Huawei Nova 9 SE: Which is the ideal cell phone for you?

2022-04-26T21:52:39.794Z

We put these two mid-range phones from Honor and Huawei to the test. Learn about its features, price and cameras here.

I had the opportunity to test two of the most recent equipment from both Honor and Huawei that are located in the competitive mid-range.

Today I will tell you about the X8, one of the devices of the new Honor X family, and the Nova 9 SE.

What do these phones offer in design and cameras?

Huawei equipment has a pearlescent tone that changes under the light, generating attractive reflections.

That striking design of the back added to the curvature on the screen and the camera section, at first glance it is really beautiful.

The screen of this equipment is 6.78 inches, Full HD + and has a refresh rate of 90 Hz.

Rear cameras: Main 108 MP;

8MP Wide Angle;

2 MP Depth Lens and a 16 MP front camera.

But this litmus effect is also present in the new Honor X8, although in a matte tone that really looks striking and that also stands out for the arrangement of four cameras.

It offers a slim, delicate and to a certain extent elegant appearance.

As for the screen, the Honor X8 integrates a 6.7-inch Full HD + IPS LCD panel with an adaptive 90 Hz refresh rate.

While the Honor X8 bets on an arrangement of four cameras: the main 64MP, a 5MP wide-angle, a 2MP macro and a 2MP bokeh.

While the

camera is 16 MP.

The photos of both teams are good, although the colors more faithful to reality will be found in the Huawei team.

A phone without Google

The Nova 9 SE doesn't have a Play Store, it has an AppGallery.

So one of the first things we notice is the absence of any Google applications like YouTube, Google Maps and Gmail, among others.

This can be a problem for people used to using Android, but if you already come from a team without GMS, adapting will not cost you time.

You will also not find apps like Instagram, WhatsApp and Facebook and you will be able to use Petal Search as the main search engine of the device.

While the Honor X8 does have Google services, so you may feel more adapted from the first moment.

Battery

The Honor 8X has a 4000mAh battery, which offers up to 13 hours of online video, 19 hours of web browsing and 9.3 hours of gaming.

You may need to leave it charging at the end of the day, but charging time is fast for the mid-range.

With the 22.5 W charger, the cell phone can go from 0 to 100% in just over an hour, and while it might seem that it is not on par with the extremely short charging speeds that we are seeing lately in equipment from other brands, it's fast enough to be considered one of the most notable elements of the team.

The Nova 9 SE does shine more in this aspect because, although its battery is also 4000 mAh, it has a 66 W fast charge.

conclusion

The Huawei Nova 9 SE is an excellent device for those looking for a mid-range phone, although some Google applications may be missing;

Even so, we believe this Huawei is capable of compensating for this absence by offering us a fairly positive experience with its own applications and with what it offers in the cameras and fast charging section.

On the Honor X8 I highlight the photos taken in night mode, which come out better than on the Huawei team.

As for the design part, I like that the fingers are not marked thanks to the matte finish, which I personally like more than the shiny one of the Nova 9 SE.

Availability and price

As for prices, you can find the Huawei equipment at MX$8,499, but right now you can buy it at a discount through the company's website and buy it for MX$1,000 less.

While the Honor X8 has a launch price of MX $ 6,799 and includes an Honor Band 6 or a Bluetooth Speaker, if you buy the equipment directly on its page.
