The Minister of Local Administration and Environment, Eng. Hussein Makhlouf, discussed with the Regional Director of the World Food Program responsible for the Middle East and North Africa Corinne Fleischer and the accompanying delegation today ways to develop joint cooperation according to the priorities set by the Syrian government.

Minister Makhlouf indicated during the meeting the need for continued coordination and support for the program by the Higher Relief Committee and its sub-committees in the governorates, in a way that contributes to providing humanitarian, relief and food needs and delivering them to those who deserve them in light of the increased needs resulting from the unilateral coercive economic measures imposed on Syria, which negatively affected securing the requirements and needs Syrian people.

For her part, Fleischer drew attention to the importance of the existing cooperation between the two sides, expressing her thanks to the Higher Relief Committee for the support it provided to implement the family assessment program in cooperation with the concerned authorities and the Syrian Arab Red Crescent, which contributed to the delivery of aid to the neediest groups.

The meeting was attended by the Governor of Damascus and the Assistant Minister of Local Administration and Environment.
