Legislative: Valls recognizes his defeat in the 5th constituency of French people living abroad

It is one of the constituencies which undoubtedly caused the most talk during the campaign for the legislative elections.

This Sunday, Renaud Le Berre (Nupes) and Stéphane Vojetta (dissident) qualified in the second round in the 5th constituency of the French Abroad, which includes Spain, Portugal, Andorra and Monaco.

Former Prime Minister Manuel Valls for his part admitted defeat even before the publication of the results.

It must be said that there was no shortage of candidates in this constituency, with no less than 12 competitors.

The most anticipated duel was undoubtedly that between Manuel Valls, officially invested by the majority, and Stéphane Vojetta, outgoing deputy - he was the substitute for Samantha Cazebonne, who became a senator at the end of 2021 -, who had so far the support LREM , and had decided to remain as a dissident.

The hopes of candidate Nupes

This is not the first time that the former socialist has embarked on a legislative race, since he was elected four times in the first constituency of Essonne.

Nor is it a first for him to campaign in Spain, since he was once a municipal councilor in Barcelona.

However, his campaign was not so simple, even if this constituency voted more than 80% for Emmanuel Macron in the second round of the presidential election, due to the maintenance of the outgoing deputy, excluded from the Republic in March. .
