Two people die from gunshot wounds in a discount store in Schwalmstadt, North Hesse.

A man fired the fatal shots.

Update from June 7th, 3:51 p.m

.: Shots were fired at around 1 p.m. in an Aldi discounter in Schwalmstadt in northern Hesse.

Alerted emergency services found two dead in the market.

According to the statements of witnesses, a man (58) shot a woman (53) in the supermarket and then apparently took his own life, the police said.

After initial investigations, the police have ruled out third-party involvement.

During the operation, the police announced via Twitter that there was no danger to other people or the population.

Other people were not harmed according to current investigative findings.

The Hessian state parliament president Astrid Wallmann (CDU) reacted to the news during a state parliament session and thanked the emergency services in Schwalmstadt.
