A 37-year-old Israeli hiker from Pardes Hana, Boaz Bar Anan, was killed yesterday (Friday) while climbing a mountain in Indonesia, a country that does not have diplomatic relations with Israel.
It was reported in the local press that a hiker with a Portuguese passport, apparently Israeli, hiked on Mount Rinjani near the city of Lombok, stumbled into a 150-meter-high ravine and fell to his death.
"Before the fall, he took a selfie on the edge of the cliff at the top," said the shocked local guide.
At this stage operations are still being carried out to retrieve his body, the rescue company "Magnus" with the help of local rescue companies are working on the spot.
The Israeli consulate in Singapore is monitoring the rescue operations.
