Damascus-SANA
The Council of Higher Education and the Supreme Council of Technical Education discussed today issues of determining the absorptive capacity of universities and technical institutes for the 2022-2023 academic year, as the focus was on increasing the number of students in colleges and institutes needed by the labor market, as well as securing a “general education” seat for each student who succeeded in the secondary certificate.
The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Bassam Ibrahim, stressed the importance of technical education and the need for cooperation between educational institutions and the business sector in terms of organizing practical training for students during their study period, because graduates of this type of education play an active role in the career ladder and building the national economy, so that graduates acquire practical skills to enter the market work directly.
Minister Ibrahim pointed to the need to prepare all trade-offs centers in faculties in various universities, with the provision of technical and administrative cadres to follow them, secure the required supplies, simplify procedures to prevent overcrowding, and conduct trade-offs according to a planned timetable, in coordination with the National Union of Syrian Students.
The proposals will be presented to the Higher Committee for University Absorption, which will hold its meeting next week, headed by Engineer Hussein Arnous, Prime Minister.
