A sign at Kaufland is currently causing a stir among Franconia.

A user now vented on Twitter – and received broad approval.

Nuremberg – Of course, the Franconians also see themselves as Bavarians.

Geographically they have to.

But Franconians also attach great importance to being Franconians.

A prominent representative of this claim is, of all people, the Bavarian Prime Minister from Nuremberg, Dr.

Markus Soder.

Again and again he emphasizes the uniqueness of Franconia, most recently with big words at the "Day of the Franconia" at the beginning of July.

Accordingly, some Franconian Twitter users were horrified at the sight of one of their cultural assets, which had been "defaced" with a Bayern sign.

Kaufland excitement on Twitter: Franconian Bocksbeutel - made in Bavaria

The Bocksbeutel is a special bottle, especially for wines from the Franconian wine-growing region.

A special cultural asset that apparently even large retail chains like Kaufland have to treat with respect – otherwise they will draw the wrath of Franconian Twitter users, with a wink of course.

This is what happened a few days ago: Twitter user Lynn Nothegger posted a photo showing a wine rack at Kaufland.

Various Bockstüten in different price categories can be seen.

The reason for the excitement lies rather in the Kaufland signs, which praise the origin of the wines: Bavaria!

Bocksbeutel outrage on Twitter: Kaufland in the sights of users

"Made in Bavaria" and "Because Bavaria is close to our hearts" are written on the signs.

Technically not wrong, of course, but a generalization of a Franconian cultural asset that the Twitter users who react to Nothegger's post don't like at all.

"Shock!

Horror!” writes one user, another asks in horror: “Did a Prussian put up the signs??” Another comment mentions cultural appropriation, probably also with regard to the current debate about the Winnetou children’s books who recently spoke to Söder.

Of course, all the comments are accompanied by a good pinch of smiles, but one thing is also clear: the Franconian buckssack is not to be trifled with!
