The closure of the through road in Wartenberg has resulted in surreptitious traffic through Langenpreising and through the Channel Tunnel over the past few weeks and months.
On Prisostraße it gets narrow or too narrow from time to time.
Langenpreising – It was only recently observed how a larger car transporter with eight new cars from Eastern Europe failed when trying to drive through the Channel Tunnel, which was too low for it.
Mayor Josef Straßer (FWG) can only shake his head at events like these.
But he also has an idea of how the whole thing can possibly be remedied.
The signage is actually sufficient, says the mayor when asked by our newspaper.
Possibly, however, a more detailed - and then more conspicuous - signage could improve something.
One could perhaps think about that, said Straßer.
It remains to be seen whether that will help.
In the case in question, the freight forwarder had even saved on the navigation system, which would have drawn attention to height restrictions.
In the end, the trucker, who was on his way to the Kleinfeld commercial area in Wartenberg, had to reverse a long way while traffic was moving, which was above average anyway due to the road closure in Wartenberg.
Then the desperate driver made several attempts to turn around in the adjacent square and street.
Firstly, however, the truck was too big for this space, and secondly, there was no one who could have stopped the following traffic for this maneuver at short notice.
So the unfortunate driver had no choice but to somehow back out of the entire Prisostrasse.
Straßer knows of incidents like this at the point in question, which of course also impede further traffic: "You see things like that more often there.
But mei, with some, there's really nothing you can do about it."
